Rabbi Manes Kogan was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He holds a degree in Psychology from The University of Buenos Aires, as well as a Masters in Jewish Education from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and received his rabbinical ordination from the Seminario RabĂ­nico Latinoamericano, the Conservative Seminary in Buenos Aires.

Rabbi Kogan is a Senior Rabbinic Fellow of the Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem, a graduate of the seventh rabbinic cohort of the Institute for Jewish Spirituality, and a member of the inaugural cohort of the New York Rabbinic Fellowship for Visionary Leaders. Rabbi Kogan serves as a board member on the New York Board of Rabbis and as an honorary board member of NAMI (National Alliance on mental Illness) Queens/Nassau.

In 2022, Rabbi Kogan joined the US. Army as a chaplain with the New York National Guard with the rank of Captain.

Rabbi Kogan serves as the spiritual leader of Hillcrest Jewish Center, a traditional, egalitarian and participatory congregation in Fresh Meadows, New York.

Rabbi Kogan is married to Silvia Surazski Kogan, and he is the proud father of Daniela, Ilan, and Abby.
